Barnard Joins VTC Men's Basketball Coaching Staff
Randolph Center, VT: Head Coach Jamal Hughes announced Friday that Brian Barnard, a Vermont native will be joining the Knights as an assistant coach. Barnard comes to VTC after a 3 year coaching stint with the Vermont AAU program Branch Bombers made up of mostly Bethel and South Royalton players.
Brian played basketball for South Royalton High School where he was also captain. He was known for his leadership, passion and energy.
Hughes on Barnard: I know Brian well. He has a lot of passion and respect for the game. Most of all, he is a great human being who puts his signature on everything he does and thats what we want at Vermont Tech.
Brian Barnard: " I am grateful to be part of one of the premier programs in Vermont. Growing up here with passionate coaches has installed some great qualities in me. At South Royalton we were always a smaller school even for Vermont. My coaches promoted values such as determination, pride and strength. I was always taught that the game is about heart. Our team was often the underdogs but we had a ton of heart. We all worked together to promote the best performance from everyone. Going into every game with heart and passion is what I hope to bring to this program. I want to assist coach Hughes in bringing out the best in all of the student-athletes and help carry that Vermont Tech pride with them in every aspect of life."
Brian currently resides in Bethel with his fiancé Amber, and daughter Riley.
