Knights' Trevor Kipp wins YSCC Conference Meet at Home
Randolph Center, VT - Vermont Tech hosted the Yankee Small College Conference championships on Saturday. Attending the meet were Central Maine Community College, New Hampshire Technical Institute, Paul Smiths College, Albany College of Pharmacy, Hampshire College, York County Community College, and Vermont Tech.
In the Men's race VTC's Trevor Kipp ran the best race of his Collegiate career, running a close race for the first half of the race. The 4K mark is on the hill behind Lake Champagne Campground. Trevor was behind the lead runner by about 20m going into the hill. By the top of the hill, Trevor had taken the the lead and never looked back, winning the race by almost a minute in a VTC record time of 29:32. "He ran that course faster than any VTC athlete before him by several minutes." said Coach Dunkle. "It was really cool to see him use the training to win that race." Kipp is only the second male Knights cross country runner to win a conference title, the first in 2019 was Tyler Dunham.
In the team results column Vermont Tech finished 4th overall. When asked how he felt about his teams performance Dunkle said, "I am pleased with this team. All freshmen. All of them worked hard to get ready for this meet and improving with every race. Rio Course (22nd), Oskar Lehnartz (23rd), Connor Mazzarella (27th), Alexander Yaggy (33rd), Elijah Boucher (34th) , and all of them running minutes faster than their first race on this course.
Vermont Tech will be traveling next week to compete at the USCAA National Championships in Virginia Beach. That is always a fun trip for the team. A championship race, they all get to compete at the national level and put that into their "I did this Box"
