STRONG START NOT ENOUGH AS RANDOLPH IS EDGED OUT BY ACPHS IN FOUR
Albany, NY — The Vermont State University Randolph women's volleyball team battled hard but ultimately fell to Albany College of Pharmacy in four competitive sets (25–17, 15–25, 23–25, 22–25) on Friday evening.
Vermont State Randolph opened the match with energy and precision, taking the first set 25–17 behind aggressive serving and steady defense. However, Albany College of Pharmacy found their rhythm in the second set, pulling ahead early and never looking back to even the match at one set apiece.
The third and fourth sets were tightly contested, with both teams exchanging long rallies and critical points. Randolph kept pressure on with consistent defense, but Albany capitalized on key offensive runs late in each set to secure the 3–1 victory.
Deanna Heintz led the way offensively for Randolph, posting 16 kills on 44 attempts for a .205 hitting percentage, while adding 21 digs for a strong two-way performance. Anna McKillop contributed 5 kills and 6 aces, proving to be a force at the service line. Jasmine Mooney and Layton Moulton each added 5 kills, while Marielle Benoit chipped in with 3.
Defensively, Randolph totaled 79 digs, with McKillop (17) and Heintz (21) leading the back row. The team kept rallies alive throughout the match, forcing Albany to earn their points. Though Randolph recorded just one solo block on the night, their floor defense kept them competitive in every set.
For Albany College of Pharmacy, Morgan Bohlke paced the offense with 15 kills on 46 swings, while Kim Fisk and Abigail Kievit added 7 and 8 kills respectively. Setter Jenna Reinhard ran a balanced attack, tallying 22 assists.
