Johnson State Too Much for VTC Women’s Soccer
Heat and humidity play a vital role in team’s season opener
Under oppressive heat and humidity conditions, a short-handed VTC squad could simply not match stride with the Johnson State women. The Green Knights gave all they had in the first half, and at that point were only down 4-0 and still in relative striking distance. The numbers of Johnson State, however, and not having any subs to give the players any respite from the heat, humidity and intensity of the game eventually took their toll.
Despite Abbie Senesac (Williston, VT) giving her all to save 17 shots on goal, VTC still ended up on the wrong side of a 14-0 score. The game remained scoreless for the first ten minutes, with Johnson State scoring at the eleven minute mark and then never looking back.
The loss makes VTC 0-1 on the season, 0-0 in the Yankee Conference, while Johnson State is now 1-1, 0-0 in the North Atlantic Conference.
